LICK ME, ALL OF YOU:
5 FROZEN TREATS TO NOSH ON NOW
Here at pstol, we are frozen food freaks–and by “food,” we mean deserts, natch. Since summer is officially here, we figured the best way to TGIF this week is to share our favorite frozen treats of the season. Sa-weetP
ps: Don’t recognize the movie quote from the headline? It’s classic Parker Posey from Dazed and Confused. Still drawing a blank? Check the trailer at the end of this post.
THE CHIC LITTLE HOSTESS GIFT
Talenti’s packaging is so modern, it looks like it should hold high-end salt scrubs, not food stuff. But what makes this haute-ly-housed treat really great is the stuff inside. The texture is so incredibly smooth and the add-ins are perfectly proportioned–with chocolate pieces that are shaved, not chunked, for example–that it’s easy to end up eating a little too much of the stuff. All said, this chic little tub or three packed on ice makes the perfect hostess gift (hello, Hill Country Peach Champagne!) for friends who let you post up poolside all summer long.
THE HOMEGROWN FAVORITE THAT’S NAUGHTY AND NICE
There’s nothing like the feeling of getting away with doing something naughty in broad daylight, while straight-laced and unsuspecting people around you go about their business. This liquor-laced gelato bar lets you do just that and savor the flavor of whiskey at noon without judgement. Like with a lot of other flavors in Bar Gelato’s arsenal, the star ingredient here (St. George Whiskey) is made in Bay-Area. If a boozy bite isn’t for you, the company offers other habit-forming flavors, like Blue Bottle Coffee and organic TCHO Chocolate, which feature namesake ingredients from the cult brands.
THE PALATE CLEANSER
Just because you want something icy and cold doesn’t mean you have to sign up for sweet. This blood orange sorbet kicks epic flavor without the sweet aftertaste. It’s the perfect post-dinner bite and palate cleanser–and just happens to be one of Oprah’s favorite things.
THE ANTIOXIDANT-PACKED INDULGENCE
Having a tough time justifying an ice cream indulgence? Try focusing on the antioxidant-rich pomegranate and dark chocolate ingredients in this better-than-Häagen-Dazs-bar. While it may seem like a knock-off of the ice cream giant’s style (note the premium ice cream, shape of the treat and wooden stick with fattened handle), SheerBliss one-ups the competition by delivering organic and free-radical fighting ingredients along with incredible flavor to shame other ice creamS on a stick.
THE BACONY TREAT
This sucker is so big and rich, it’s begs to be shared with a friend or two (and good thing, since it costs nearly $7). Cut it into quarters and serve alongside iced glasses of ginger brew, a flavor that perfectly complements this treat’s buttery, chocolaty, sweet and salty cacophony of bacony-blessed goodness.
