Who doesn’t turn to Kate the Great for style inspo? She basically created festival style with her Glastonbury looks. And she patented the modern day version of dressing rock and roll.

But somehow, we can’t help but come back to one of Kate Moss’s most surprising red carpet moments, at Cannes in 1997. She hit the red carpet in a cool sheath dress, chandelier earrings, strong, red lips and easy-going hair–and it killed.

In the olden days, they would have called the style “ladylike.”  Now? It’s more like a boss. Because being in charge doesn’t mean dropping your femininity. Here’s how we cop the power play:
