FINALLY! AN EASY WAY TO GET “S” WAVES, HOLLYWOOD’S GO-TO HAIR

The secret to celebrity hair? Get a stylist to do it for you.

But for the rest of us, stylist Lorean Cairns has got our back. Here, the co-founder and creative director of Fox & Jane salons, shows us how to get the most popular hairstyle in Hollywood–loose, beachy “S” waves.

The textured style is much loved because it walks the line between pretty and modern: it’s a little messy, but not too disheveled. It’s a look that’s as perfect for prom as it is the beach. Plus, it’s loved by everyone from Selena to Jennifer Lawrence to Gigi Hadid–and who doesn’t want to have hair like these girls?

The secret to getting “S” waves for days, says Lorean, is to use a straightener instead of a curling iron to get the look–and to leave the ends untouched. Below, she gives us the play-by-play and explains the steps so clearly, anyone can follow along. You’ll need a ceramic flat iron, heat protectant spray, hair clips and a texture spray or salt spray:

Wishing you perfect hair days!!

Other celebs like Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian have long rocked the S-Wave, along with Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Kate Middleton. The look is perfect for prom, a date night or a night out with your friends. And tons of girls will be rocking it at Coachella and other festivals. The secret to Hollywood hair is to keep it from looking too perfect. Let little flaws or kinks in the hair remain when you style the hair to help give the look a more modern feel. Take a fine section horizontally above the ear. the more fine the hair, the more curl you’re going to get. prep hair with heat protectant spray. start by lifting up and creating a wave facing in towards the face. once it curls, the wave will move away from the face to create an “S” shape. go straight on the wispy ends.

I usually braid my hair, then spray surf spray before bed. Then I go to sleep and voila, I undo the braids in the morning and I have waves.
