P!NK’S NAIL ARTIST SHARES DIY DESIGN FOR FOURTH-TASTIC NAILS

Spitting watermelon seeds at our crushes. Lighting sparklers. Jumping in and out of pools, the ocean and lakes. Nothing says summer is here quite like the fourth of July.

This year, we’re getting into the spirit with a little DIY nail art.  This design, dubbed “3-Day Weekend,” was dreamt up by essie celebrity manicurist Michelle Saunders, who prettifies the nails of celebs like P!nk and Jennifer Garner. And though it looks crazy complicated, it’s easy enough to DIY at home and doesn’t require any fancy tools (just a few shades of polish). Here’s how:

step one: lay that basecoat.
step two: paint the nail opaque white
step three: paint a vertical blue stripe
step four: paint a horizontal stripe of coral polish
step five: overlay a stripe of red polish so it peeks out from the coral just a wee bit
step six: cap the tip with a light blue varnish
DONE–now go have fun on the fourth of july with your hot new nail art that you DIYed.
